After debuting with a bruising two-song single in March of 2019, Young Beasts have remained relatively quiet. That may seem out of character for a band hell-bent on punishing listeners with ear-shattering volume and chaotic aggression, but no matter. On Friday, the group will release their self-titled debut, and from the sound of first single “A Vice Without Honor or Humanity,” there will be plenty of caustic noise and whirlwind chaos to go around.

Opening with a blast of thunderous distortion, the blistering track pummels the sweet spot between galloping thrash and metallic hardcore. Throughout the roughly two-minute cut, Young Beasts maintain a breathless pace before hurling themselves into a crushing breakdown to close out the song. It’s all standard fare, but it’s delivered with the requisite rage and vitriol you want to hear from such a ferocious band. There’s no cutesy experimentation. No post-rock ambience to help breathe space into the claustrophobic tumult. Just raw, gnashing fury that’s cathartically satisfying.
