Last month, local legends BABY BABY blessed us with a new single, the band’s first in nearly four years. Since then, the track has racked up nearly 10,000 streams on Spotify and has been permanently stuck in my headphones. Online, I’ve watched fans pine for more with each social post the band has made to hype their return. I mean, who doesn’t love some good ole rock and roll mixed with silly shenanigans?

The question wasn’t whether more was coming but when. To appease the masses, BABY BABY have cut a promo video using Zoom, a technology we have become all too familiar with over the last two years. In it, they announce the release of “Tullamore Dew N U,” the second single from their upcoming album, U Good? By doing so, the band reaffirms their commitment to sharing a new single on the first Friday of each month until the LP is released. The video also reveals a special guest who will be assisting BABY BABY with the releases.

As for “Tullamore Dew N U,” the dynamic cut is a bouncy breakup song that embraces the group’s mischievous pop-punk origins. Like any good breakup, the track ebbs and flows offering moments of both quiet tension and explosive release. Ultimately, it feels cathartic as an analogy of our collective desire to separate from the pandemic and move on with our lives. As the lyrics say, I too could use a vacation.

Featuring original artwork from inky.boy, the cover maintains the thematic continuity of the previous single. According to the band, each cover is meant to represent a distinct room within what is best described as a shady motel. How it all ties together remains to be seen, but BABY BABY promises there’s plenty more to come. In the meantime, take a listen to “Tullamore Dew N U” below or stream it on Spotify.
