Born and raised in Atlanta, Honey Simone’s warm, deep timbre effortlessly saturates every note she sings. An R&B and soul “singing-songwriter” with a sharp tongue, the edgy songstress is most comfortable whenever she has a pen in her hand, although her relationship with music only recently became public. In 2015, she assisted Sensei Buenos in producing Nai Br.XX’s debut EP Wasted Calloway, as well as the singles “Bed Weather” and “Daydream.” The experience helped inspire Simone to pursue a career as a solo artist, and ever since she’s been writing and recording music, including features with the likes of Yani Mo and Boregard.

Simone’s latest single “Recovery” has been out for a minute, but the mesmerizing slow jam is deeply worth your time. A collaboration with producer Flwr Chyld, the track’s sleek, undulating grooves provide a lush yet narcotic outlet for Simone’s smoky vocals. Give it a listen below.

Honey Simone will perform on Thu., May 17 at the Masquerade alongside BOREGARD., BrownPaperBag, T. Mason, Sid Mason, and Willis the Lion. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $8. All ages.
