Writing under the moniker Wordy, songwriter Will Pass has made their name as an artist comfortable working in a variety of genres. Rock, pop, country, blues, and more all intermingle within his wheelhouse, waiting for the right moment or mood to make their way out. Whether it’s his heartfelt thumpers or tingling slow burners, you can be sure that you’re going to encounter moments of sonic bliss.

Written during a time of great soul searching, “Get Some” reflects Pass’ search for meaning. It’s a pensive track, but it still grooves. Any way you slice it, “Get Some” is damn sexy. Not in a wine and roses way, but more in a freewheeling ashram of free love kind of way. The sort of place where everyone wears white robes and the secret to absolute inner peace is deep meditation and low doses of psychedelic mushrooms. The chromatic walk down of “Get Some” pays homage to ‘60s garage heavyweights like the Zombies while also capturing what’s special about Tame Impala’s towering synth-pop. But, most importantly, it serves as a much-needed outlet for pent-up emotions.

“This song was written during a time of great frustration for me,” Pass explains. “Life was at a junction between a scattered self just melted into my surroundings and a whole world of sets built for a life closer to music and a truer identity. I wanted to start running in the latter direction. ‘Get Some’ is about shedding fear and becoming that person that is often overlooked but always felt.”

Pass is currently finishing his as-yet-untitled debut album with Damon Moon at Standard Electric Recorders Co.
