Born June 29th, 1994, Lil Silk is only 24 years young, but somehow his infectious character and persona exudes an even more youthful energy. This buoyant quality has him pegged to make waves in entertainment, notably hip-hop. Having been featured on Pigeons and Planes, FADER, Elevator, XXL, Noisey, and more, Lil Silk is only starting to making a name for himself, although he’s quick to point out the family origins of his alias.

“It’s my dad’s name. I adopted it,” Silk says when asked about his moniker. “His name is Silk, you know, so, Lil Silk.” Although he moved to Atlanta at a young age, he goes back to his native Englewood often, an infamous neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. His latest album, The Boy Who Fell to Earth, was released on the rapper’s birthday earlier this year.
