Dylan Anderson is no stranger to the Atlanta music scene. Having been part of the Atlanta experimental outfit Phracture, the local songwriter has been cutting his teeth on electronic music since early 2014. But even amidst Phracture’s unclear future, Anderson had already been making music under the Kakune moniker, dating back to the beginning days of the group. The project only became his main focal point earlier this year.

On his debut LP, Succumb 2, Anderson hopes to grab the ears of the local scene and beyond with his unique style and approach to electronic music. Lead single “Jaknyfe,” which Immersive is proud to premiere today, is the perfect example of where he wants Kakune to go. Fusing Thom Yorke and James Blake-inspired vocals with Four Tet’s layering of instruments and crisp, clean hi-hats, the track hits all the bases in a stout 3:40, leaving the listener engaged and entranced.

“The song isn’t really about anything profound… but is simply a tumultuous love song that resembles a slo-mo car wreck,” Anderson tells me via email. “I mainly stick to unrequited love songs and try not to be too cryptic about it.”

Succumb 2 will see the light of day on July 8. Pre-orders are available via Bandcamp.
