Sigh. So Amy Dala—tireless scenester, front woman of Boygirlfriends, and accomplice to so many other bands—is leaving for California soon (if she hasn’t left already!). She’ll be back, of course, but for now this jaunty, knife-happy single may be the last we hear of the power pop dynamos for a while. “One of many on display / come and get your slice today,” Amy taunts to her theoretical haters on “Chop Me Up,” but no one else can showboat on stage quite like her. Key to Boygirlfriends’ charm is also the trick ending, which Dala pulls off flawlessly through a last-second pivot into the daydreamed outro. Imagine how fun that’d be to catch live! Wah. Happy trails, Amy.
