For those of you paying attention, a scheduling conflict caused us to skip this feature last month, which is a shame because August was absolutely bananas with releases, and a little organization would have gone a long way. September, on the other hand, looks far more manageable, at least for the time being, but don’t let the relatively small numbers fool you. There are plenty of major releases looming, along with some promising new projects, so prepare yourself for yet another barrage of local music this month.
Already we’ve seen a collection of remixes and odds and ends from psychedelic hip-hip collective the Difference Machine, as well as the debut EP from Jonathan Merenivitch’s Thalmus Rasulala. Today and tomorrow that list will swell to include five more releases, including the latest from Dan Bailey of Faun and a Pan Flute and a collaborative EP between ATL emcee Dillon and Brooklyn beatmaster Diamond D. Further down the line there’s a slew of high-anticipated sophomore efforts from the likes of Wiley from Atlanta and sludge-fuzz duo Twin Trances, not to mention the latest set of from slashing guitars and steely, off-kilter beats from our preeminent post-punks Omni. Top it all off with the debut full-length from emerging songstress Mattiel and September is sitting mighty pretty.
