Over a year after the release of their mind-bending The 4th Side of the Eternal Triangle, the Difference Machine are still out hustling and promoting the expansive, forward-thinking LP. The group’s latest psychedelic assault comes in the form of new video courtesy of Atlanta-based filmmakers Rock and Egg Productions. And, man, is it something. I’ve been waiting for a minute for some visionary soul(s) to match the group’s hallucinatory hip-hop excursions with something equally engaging and tripped-out, and it’s finally here. I won’t bother getting into details—this is a journey best taken with fresh eyes. Suffice it to say it has everything you’d want in a Difference Machine video: surreal imagery, copious clouds of weed smoke, third-eye visions, allusions to our corporate overlords, the works. It’s a lot to take in, but that’s part of the point. So sit back, open your mind, and peel away the layers, ’cause there are levels to this shit.
The Difference Machine will perform tonight at the EARL alongside A Drug Called Tradition (Record Release), Order of the Owl, and Wray. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $8. 21+ to enter.
