A lot of terrible things happened as a result of the pandemic. But there were some positives, as well as some things that weren’t as clear cut. One of the gifts of the pandemic was that there was more normalization of collaboration. During the lockdown, there was more time and opportunity for discovery and communication. As a result, more local artists began creating work with musicians from national and international networks.
That’s the genesis behind Seersha’s newest synthpop banger. Written with Icelandic artist Thorisson as part of a song-a-day challenge, “Easy On Me” is a testament to the good things that social media can manifest. On the track, the duo create a shimmering electro synth anthem that sounds like what would happen if Metric marathoned the entirety of Miami Vice. It’s an entrancing cut that is tailor-made for the dance floor.
The video was filmed when Seersha visited Ireland in May. Thorisson took a red-eye flight to meet her with two Halloween costumes. The pair shot the clip in a whirlwind 14-hour session with Seersha and Thorisson running around the city of Cork dressed as police officers.
“From the very beginning, the first visual concept I had for this song involved the two of us as buddy cops,” says Seersha.
“It was intense,” adds Thorisson. “I remember I had just come back from a trip to Norway and then the next day left the airport around midnight to catch this morning flight to Cork. I think I probably slept for a total of four hours in these two days but I didn’t really feel the effects of that until I got back because I was so focused on this strange, incredible experience.”
“I still can’t believe we didn’t get into some kind of trouble,” Seersha says, laughing, “running around the streets of Cork City in fake police outfits!”
