August may be coming to a close, but there’s still time to sneak in one more summer jam before sweater weather stars to set in. And while we’re at it, let us go ahead and introduce you to Macon, Ga. foursome Hindsight, who’ve been making a bit of a stir in their hometown and beyond with their emotive take on Southern-inflected indie rock. The band is currently in the process of writing their next album, but today they’ve graciously allowed us to premiere their new single and video “Can’t Complain.”

Fans of the band will certainly recognize the tune, a holdover from the group’s last album. However, this version features a new arrangement and was re-recorded at Toast and Jam Studio by Dom Maduri and producer Ian Riley, who will both work on Hindsight’s upcoming full length. The result is a hook-filled cut full of driving guitars, anthemic vocals, and wistful, now-or-never emo undertones. It’s well-executed and tightly played, with a radio-friendly sound that’s never cloying or overly derivative—no small feat for a band swimming in these well-populated waters.

Shot and edited by Zak Washburn, and directed by Maduri, who’s been honing his craft through the studio’s many Toast and Jam Sessions, the video emphasizes the song’s nostalgic appeal and the romanticization of summer’s carefree ethos. Sure, there is footage of the band rocking out and leaning into the track’s more explosive moments, but what really grabs your attention (or mine anyway) are the shots of the band and their friends tubing on the river, drinking beers, doing flips off the rope swings, and generally having a blast. Both fit the spirit of the song, but the latter offers a more candid peek into the lives of the band, and a reason why one more summer jam is well worth making time for.
