It’s never too early (or late, for that matter) to start learning music. Research proves that music helps fuel many areas of child development from social-emotional learning to motor skills and overall literacy. Indeed, from all appearances, it seems that young brains develop faster when exposed to music training. So if you’re a parent or guardian looking to accelerate your child’s development of language and reading, getting them involved in a music program is a great way to get them started.

For those of us living in Atlanta, we’re fortunate to have Little Treblemakers. Founded by musician Sydney Eloise (Sydney Eloise & the Palms, Bathe Alone), LTM offers private music lessons, workshops, and camps for kids looking to learn an instrument. (Their sister company, Big Treblemakers, offers similar programs for adults ensuring that anyone can expand their horizons and get in on the fun.)

In addition to music education, LTM also throws 2-3 events every year that double as student recitals. When the pandemic forced the parties to go virtual in 2020, the company started a tradition of recording a cover song and filming a music video for each showcase. For last year’s Flower Hour event, Eloise and her crew of talented instructors took on the Beach Boys classic “Surfin’ Safari.” This year, they decided to maintain the sunny sixties vibe and settled on the timeless feel-good banger “Happy Together” from the Turtles.

Featuring the talents of Eloise alongside fellow musicians Damon Moon (Sydney Eloise & the Palms, Bathe Alone), Parker Bradford (Gloria), Tim Holder (bandanna, Bathe Alone), Anna Griffith (bandanna, Bathe Alone), Hollis Griffin, and Alexandra Kusti, the track is a fun, energizing romp made all the more adorable by the chorus of students singing along to the classic hook.

Filmed by Nic Huey, the video ups the cuteness factor with all parties involved donning red mushroom hats and parading around in the sun. Although written as a tale of unrequited love, there was always a bit of campiness intertwined within the song. Eloise and company embrace that playful spirit with a clip that’s partly a knowing wink to Summer of Love hippy passion and partly the best elementary school assignment ever. For the staff and students of Little Treblemakers, the video also marked a new beginning, as well as a much-needed transition away from pandemic isolation.

“These music videos are a special part of LTM’s virtual shows which were created as a substitute for our in-person recitals during the pandemic,” Eloise explains. “The music videos give us a chance to showcase our talented staff of teachers and are so much fun to make! So we decided to keep the magic going as we slowly start getting back into putting on live events.

“This is the very first time our Little Treblemakers are involved in one of these videos, and it definitely won’t be the last! It was so groovy to bring the kids into the recording studio at Standard Electric and on set! We are overjoyed to be able to bring everyone ‘happily together’ in a whole new way.”
