I generally avoid lyric videos as they tend to lack the imagination and ingenuity of a full-fledged music video, but the latest from Buckhead Shaman proves that, when conjured with thought and care, such efforts can be equally effective. Directed by Nick Rhodes of Coalesce Films and project mastermind Tyler Hobbs, the visuals for “Tastebloods” invoke the organic simplicity and free-flowing nature of the track, which finds Hobbs exploring the brighter and poppier side of his eclectic songwriting. “Reality is not for me / and it makes me laugh,” he croons over pulsing synths and skittering percussion as a couple (played by Alexandra Lucchesi and Ty Hunter) bask in the warmth of their romance. Couple that with gorgeous natural footage and some artfully animated lyrics, and “Tastebloods” is well worth a look.
