This morning, experimental surf punks SEX BBQ released their long-promised debut, Sex Noir City, and in the spirit of celebration we are excited to premiere the band’s latest single, “Future Simon.” On the track, Kate Jan and company take us through a twisted space-time continuum to a dark, hazy club populated by creatures out of a 1940’s horror novel. Jan’s vocal style here is a shift from her usual rock and roll shout. Instead, she floats from verse to chorus with an eerily soft echo, slinking between the spiraling organ notes and indiscriminate drum fills. By the end of the track, we realize the zombies, lovers and ghosts which creep up behind us in this mind-melting song may not be too far from the frightening reality of any club at 3 a.m. Listen below.

SEX BBQ will celebrate the release of Sex Noir City on Saturday, September 5 at 529. Supporting them will be New Junk City, Louie Louie and Hello Cobra. The show will be hosted by The Imperial Opa Circus. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $10 or $5 with a DragonCon badge.
