If you’re looking to hit the ground running, tonight’s lineup at 529, headlined by experimental electronic provocateurs DIP, features an intriguing mix of forward-thinking locals and avant-leaning touring acts that should satisfy those listeners seeking something more adventurous than your standard rock or pop club show. Or maybe you’d prefer to conserve your energy for tomorrow night at Terminal West when you can lose yourself within DIIV’s immersive indie rock. Just don’t forget to arrive early, as ATL stalwarts Small Reactions kick off the evening with their wiry, combustible jams.
If heavier, uglier, decidedly misanthropic sounds are more your speed, you have plenty to choose from this week as Athens noise pugilists the Powder Room take over 529 on Friday and guttural punks Black Panties bring their trashy, nihilistic rock to close out the weekend at the Earl.
