For better or worse, Pabst Blue Ribbon has become synonymous with the hipster lifestyle, especially with the dive-bar culture that’s prevalent among fans of punk and indie rock. And while the venerable beer brand has reaped untold millions from that association, they have at least proven willing to support the music and arts community through various sponsorships and arts initiatives. PBR’s latest venture, the PBR Music Foundation, was created to support up-and-coming musicians through monthly, need-based grants. Atlanta’s first ladies of punk, the Coathangers, were the recipients of the foundation’s inaugural grant, and used the funds to create their latest music video, directed and produced by Atlanta-based Newmerica Media.

Now, in an attempt to spread the word about their efforts, the PBR Music Foundation have teamed up with Newmerica to produce a campy promotional video starring the Coathangers, the Black Lips’ Jared Swilley, and Bryan Malone of the Forty-Fives, as well as members of Baby Baby and Bad Spell. Using Newmerica’s gift for conjuring irreverent humor, the video, entitled “Your Wish is Granted,” explains how any struggling musician who has talent and is committed to their art is eligible to receive a grant. All they need to do is submit a video about why they deserve it and what they will use the funds for. According to their press release, PBR will not base their decisions on the quality of the submitted videos, but on the “sincerity of your needs,” so if you’re a band that could use some financial assistance, I highly suggest you check out the video above.
