If you haven’t already made East Atlanta Village’s yearly block party one of your annual traditions, here is your opportunity to get started. Tomorrow morning at 11 a.m., the 18th annual East Atlanta Strut, the free, one-day music, arts and food extravaganza, will take over EAV, offering visitors the best of what the popular in-town neighborhood has to offer. In addition to the parade, artists market, kids village and community booths, there will be a classic car show and an adult game area that will feature a beard contest, a chicken wing eating contest and a hot dog eating contest, among other events.

For this year’s festivities, the East Atlanta Strut received the Neighborhood Arts Grant Program from the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. With the additional funds, they were able to commission new murals from olive47, Heather Greenway, Adrian Barzaga, sQuishiepuss and Catlanta to beautify neighborhood walls that have been neglected and vandalized. The murals will all be unveiled tomorrow during the festival.

Then, of course, there is all the live music. This year’s Strut features four stages, as well as rooftop show at the Secret Spot (if you don’t know, ask around, somebody will surely fill you in). If you’re looking for suggestions, we recommend you spend ample time visiting the Argosy stage. Curated by Davy Minor of Deer Bear Wolf, the stage will feature performances from the likes of Shepherds, Coma Girls, Bearknuckle and Mara.
