Guillermo CastroUsually the week after a major festival plays in Atlanta, the calendar slows down considerably. But for anyone hoping to catch a breather after this week’s whirlwind of live music, you’re going have to tough it out for a while longer. Because in addition to the first annual Shaky Beats’ three-day marathon of electronic, hip-hop, and alternative music taking over Centennial Olympic Park this weekend, there’s a whole host of must-see local shows and special events that you should be paying close attention to this week.
Release shows are always something we tend to focus on at Immersive, and this Friday there is a trio of release celebrations happening starting with the Howling Tongues’ unveiling of Boo Hiss at Vinyl in Midtown. Elsewhere, East Atlanta will play host to a pair of parties with garage-surf rockers Shantih Shantih dropping their debut LP, Winter in September, at the EARL, and nerdcore rapper Michael Myerz unleashing his double EP, Bury Me With My Money, at 529. And for the love of all things loud and noisy, do not miss the return of All the Saints (!!!), who will play their first show in three years this Saturday at 529 in support of a new 7-inch. And, as if all that weren’t enough, the wondrous Larkin Grimm will play a free performance at Mammal Gallery this Saturday night to help close out Ladyfest Atlanta with her wildly inventive freak-folk stylings.
