With an exclusive premiere at Worldstar; features on The FADER, Complex, and Pigeons & Planes; and co-signs from the likes of Young Thug under his belt, SahBabii’s star is not only beginning to shine, it may be headed straight to supernova. The 19-year-old rapper’s “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick” is the hottest track in the city right now, which is kind of bananas when you consider it was initially considered a throwaway cut on a mixtape (SANDAS) that was released to little fanfare last October. But, holy shit, what a difference a couple months can make.

You can credit much of the track’s recent thermonuclear activity to the viral success of the video, which has racked up over 2.5 million views in just two weeks. Created by Atlanta’s HoodRich Films, it’s damn near impossible not to get sucked into the intoxicating dichotomy between the song’s utterly infectious atmospheric trap pop and the hardcore street visuals that get thrown at you. As one of the comments on YouTube noted, “This is the most friendly gang banging track I have ever heard in my life.” And yet, there’s enough firepower shown here to level a city block, which I guess is a not so subtle way of saying the 9th Ward packs heat in more ways than one. Make of that what you will. Me, I’m just going to keep this joint on repeat until the hooks wear out, which honestly may be never.
