Lanes is back with their latest release and it doesn’t disappoint. The Atlanta rockers have brought the same fresh, unique sound they debuted in 2015 to a new two-track effort that’s even catchier and more confident than the “Sort You Out” b/w “Kid Runnin'” single the group unveiled early last year.

Showcasing the band’s layered songwriting prowess, the A-side, “All Things Aren’t Forgiven,” takes off with high energy, guiding listeners through a complex state of mental frustration and expiring lust. It’s a classic John Hughes movie re-packaged in a punchy, contemporary song form. Meanwhile, “Keep It Together,” with its sweet vocals and cheeky lyrics, charmingly tell the story of an intoxicating, hot mess kind of romance. The song is a welcome compliment to its predecessor, one that mellows the mood with a softer tone—something we haven’t heard from Lanes in their previous releases.

All in all, “All Things Aren’t Forgiven/Keep It Together” presents a fun and interesting new take on the group’s R&B-influenced alternative rock. Booming with big production, laced with intricate guitar work, and steered through irresistible hooks by singer Tim Romero’s strong and passionate vocals, this new single hits just the spot listeners were looking for.

Lanes will perform on Sat., Mar. 18 at the Masquerade (Hell). They will be supported by Tyler Gartzman. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $10. All ages.
