In honor of the radio station’s 50th Anniversary, Georgia Tech’s student-operated WREK is holding a megazord version of their annual WREKtacular festival. This year’s two-day blowout will go down on Apr. 6 and 7 at the Mammal Gallery, and will feature some of the biggest names to come out of Atlanta and Athens in the past 30 years, as well as a slew of exciting newcomers.
WREK has always existed at the intersection of weird and weirder, so it’s no surprise that the lineup for the fest is absurd but wonderful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another bill that’s shown so much love for Athens’ idols, oddball electronica, and underground R&B all in the same place. Pylon Reenactment Society, BbyMutha, Omni, and Ethereal are sure to draw big crowds, but don’t miss out on all the good stuff further down the bill like Pamela_and her sons, Farrad Thomas, and Yukons. If you need a break from the noise, there will be an art exhibit upstairs at Mammal featuring the work of some yet to be named locals. The fact that you can check out the whole fest for $22 ($14 for a single day pass) is truly a gift from the radio wave gods. Check out the full lineup below.
