For a group that pride themselves on churning out propulsive rock anthems, Weisshund sure come off cool and collected on the lead single and title track from the duo’s upcoming EP. That’s not to say that there isn’t a healthy level of raucous garage grit pouring from “More of Us,” but Rick Lollar (vocals, guitar) and Marlon Patton (drums, Moog bass pedals) definitely temper some of that wiry intensity with a heavy dose of slick blues-rock riffs and catchy hooks.
As for the accompanying video, it’s simple enough: a live performance clip backlit by swirling colored lights and psychedelic projections, both of which inject some additional dynamism into the duo’s roots-chewing stomp. Considering their overall look and general musical aesthetic, it’s almost impossible to watch this and not be reminded of the Black Keys, so make of that what you will. Me? I’m just going to kick back and watch these two do their thing, because it’s clear there’s plenty of addictive grooves and hip-swaying rock and roll to go around.
Watch above.
