Atlanta-bred singer-songwriter and producer Julianna Smaltz, aka Shebloom, has been generating buzz with her youthful tone and soulful vocals since 2015 when she first started performing originals under the nickname “Jiggy.” No stranger to collaborations, Shebloom’s last project was a three-track joint EP with fellow songwriter Dara Carter called The Change of Life, a record that helped land Smaltz’s first international appearance in Vancouver in 2018. Her most recent release, a video cover of H.E.R.’s striking “Hard Place,” sees her teaming up with vocalist Ansley Fain for an emotionally-stirring rendition that does immense justice to the original. As productions go, the dimly-lit, one-shot footage may not seem like much, but it serves to put greater emphasis on the stellar singing and dynamic harmonies that the pair deliver here. All in all, it’s a stunning display of talent and craftsmanship from two young artists who should definitely be on your radar.
