Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be another major music festival in Atlanta this year, along comes Project Pabst Atlanta. Yesterday, the PBR-sponsored event announced an absolute stunner of a lineup led by hip-hop super duo Run the Jewels and local metal titans Mastodon. The single-day festival will take place on October 1 in the East Atlanta Village.
Honestly, if you’re looking for holes, you might find a weak spot here or there, but for the most part this bill is rock solid with the proverbial “something for everyone” label well intact. Other big name acts include legacy punk act NOFX, pop innovator Santigold, soul singer Charles Bradley, Odd Future spinoff the Internet, and indie rockers Real Estate and Titus Andronicus.
If you’re concerned about local representation — don’t worry. In addition to RTJ’s Killer Mike and the aforementioned Mastodon, Project Pabst Atlanta also includes local post-punks Omni, rock and roll lifers Biters, trash punks Dinos Boys, and garage-psych trio Midnight Larks. Details are still being revealed, but word is additional ATL artists such as the Difference Machine and Michael Myerz will also perform. Early bird tickets go on sale this Wednesday, July 13 for $40. Once those run out, the price will jump to $55 for general admission. Project Pabst is a 21+ event.
