Those sneaky Predator boys are back dropping records under the radar again. This time the culprit is the No Face 7″ they released in late July on Total Punk, a Florida label the band has worked with in the past and who also has released records for Atlanta fam GG King and Nag.
The title track is the only snippet of the record available online and thank the blessed punk gods it’s exactly what I expected. All the bleary-eyed, skull shot, scrappy goodness of Predator that keeps me up at night clicks into place after a space-echoed chant announces the band’s identity and intentions.
Over the course of two minutes a slightly careening melody combines with vocalist and songwriter Brannon Greene’s innermost fears. The track serves as a reminder that the best Predator songs are always laid out in bold face, but with a trembling hand. Throughout the track, Greene illustrates an introverted existence and the bitterly addictive drug of isolation, balanced with a repressed energy which can no longer be restrained.
The 7″ isn’t currently available on Total Punk’s website, but can still be obtained thanks to local distro State Laughter.
