At midnight yesterday, the legendary beatmasters behind the original Dungeon Family (Outkast, Goodie Mob, etc.) made their grand return official with the release of “Kush.” Of course, hip-hop and 4/20 go hand in hand, and while every rapper who publicly claims they have a “pharmacist” in their contact lists has a song for the special holiday, Organized Noize won the day with this seductive Southern rap collab featuring 2 Chainz and Dungeon Family vet Joi Gilliam. The bass in the beginning comes in slapping hard accompanied by reverberating guitars and Joi’s vintage, elevated vocals: “kiss me like you mean it then pass the kush.” The vibe is sultry and chill, but then 2 Chainz arrives to deliver the record into a higher bliss, before Joi returns to ask her partner to break her off that “sticky sweet flower.” With “Kush,” Organized Noize prove that time hasn’t dulled their instincts for artful production, creating a dynamic track that nods to the sensuality of funk, while also tipping its hat to the seductiveness of 4/20.

Pre-order the Organized Noize EP now before it drops May 5.
