It’s Thanksgiving week which always means the calendar is a bit thin, especially if you’re in Athens and the bulk of students are headed home for the holiday. Still, one of the benefits of living in a major hub of music is that you can always catch a show, even if you’re options are more limited than normal. And besides, it’s not like this time of year doesn’t come with its own traditions. As hard as it is to believe that The Stuffing is already in its seventh year, there’s no denying that the annual blow-out, organized and hosted by hometown indie titans Manchester Orchestra, has for many of us become an integral part of the Thanksgiving experience. As usual, this year’s event is sold out so if you haven’t already grabbed your tickets, you should probably start scouring the internet for a way in.
Can’t make it to The Stuffing? Not to worry. The Atlanta DIY scene is banding together this Saturday to throw their own mini fest, this one in support of RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. Headlined by party rockers BABY BABY and eminent DIY punks the Wild, the lineup features a mix of established scene vets and emerging artists all coming together to benefit this most worthy of causes. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and your $10 admission will all go towards assisting in the crucial, lifesaving work that RAINN does on an everyday basis.
