The theme surrounding 404 Day the past couple of years has been a simple one: bigger and better. Bigger venues, better artists, larger crowds. From its earliest inception as a one-off party at the Clermont Lounge to a total takeover of Edgewood Avenue nightspots, the one-day celebration of local music and culture has grown at an exponential rate since its inaugural show in 2012, all the while remaining true to its All Atlanta Everything! tagline.
This year, however, it seems that festival founder Ricky Raw has decided to test the age-old adage that less is more. Still, while the 2016 404 Day festival may not boast multiple venues or an extensive lineup, there’s still plenty to get excited about. Co-headlining the event, which will take place Monday, April 4 at Terminal West, are garage-punk heroes the Black Lips, along with Atlanta trap star Young Dro. Joining them in support are psychedelic hip-hop group the Difference Machine and local club scene staple Sofa King Evil. It’s a small lineup, but an eclectic one that will hopefully earn support from various factions of the Atlanta music scene. Fingers crossed.
Tickets will run you $22 and went on sale this morning, so get on it before they’re gone.
