Let’s set aside all the usual niceties and background details and get to brass tacks, shall we? Because beyond the verdant forest of death, the drowning waters, the dark groves of discarded tires, the tattered monuments to urban decay, is a band who thrashes and wails and rips far harder, and with greater sense of abandon, than most I’ve heard around here in some time. And, yeah, I could spend some time lamenting that we didn’t cover TORO earlier or griping about why they’re not yet getting their due praise, but need I remind you there are world-devouring riffs and vicious, throat-lacerating growls to be had? This is not a drill, folks. This is goddamn thunder and fury and something like a hundred combined years of misanthropic rage distilled into four brutal minutes of punishing metal that’s smart enough to both throw us a glimmer of melody in the chorus and to hire Solomon Chase of Batteryfire to direct this bleak, insane mindfuck of a video. Jesus Christ, do I have to spell it out? Press play, jack the volume up to max decibels, and submit yourself to TORO’s pummeling carnage.

TORO will perform on Thu., Sept. 28 at the Clermont Lounge alongside the Obsessed, Spore Lord and Girthquake. Doors open at 9 p.m. $10 gets you in. 21+ to enter.
