Whatever you may think of Little Tybee’s music, and I’ll get to my own assessment in just a moment, there’s little denying their videos are largely works of inspired detail and beauty. Whether they’re constructing elaborate one-take vignettes with puppets, piecing together tour footage full of stunning vistas and scenic wonder, or simply embellishing a performance video with slick editing and graceful pacing, the band’s ability to embed their songs in a variety of unique visual styles and spellbinding settings is an impressive thing to behold. So it should come as no surprise that the group’s latest video is another enchanting affair that lures the viewer in with its own absorbing aesthetic.

Filmed by lead singer Brock Scott while sailing the Greek Cyclades, “Lost in the Field” dips its toes into ancient mythology with hand-animated allusions to the Greek undead and a fearsome sea serpent. According to group’s press release, the video follows the story of Capt’n Thom (Thomson Moore) as he sails to the Greek underworld in hopes of locating his missing crew, but in the end it’s Brock’s vivid eye and sweeping oceanside panoramas that really make the video worth watching.

Musically, the song finds Little Tybee embracing the elegant, windswept folk-rock they’ve become known for, albeit with some hints of glossy pop thrown in for good measure. It’s nothing revelatory as far as the band’s development, but at this juncture the sextet are so accomplished and confident with what they do that each chord and melody ring with assured honesty and conviction.
