On their latest single, electronic indie rock group SWEETBAY clamor for a semblance of reason in their relationship with muses shall that remain unnamed. The glittering soundscape, with its swirling synths and echoing drums, provides a balanced backdrop for the three-piece outfit to put their chops on display. In just over four minutes, “Remedy” hints at the band’s proclivity for a masochism worth clinging to, where in place of actual healing, they prefer their hearts be taken for ransom. Overall, it’s a big, buoyant pop song that feels calm and measured—a wise show of restraint that serves the track well.

SWEETBAY will perform on Sun., Feb. 18 at Smith’s Olde Bar alongside the Twotakes, Lost Stars, and Maggie Schneider. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission $8-10. 18+ to enter.
