This Wednesday, Atlanta will join 200 cities around the world in an effort to raise awareness for the millions of people who continue to be impacted by the ongoing refugee crisis. In a one-night only event, Sofar Sounds Atlanta will team up with Amnesty International for a new global fundraising project called Give a Home. Like all Sofar shows, the charity event will feature local artists at a secret location, in addition to a special appearance by Dr. Heval Mohamed Kelli, a Syrian refugee turned renowned cardiologist and researcher.

For those yet unaware of Sofar’s footprint in Atlanta, the niche group organizes shows which span genre and neighborhood in an effort to bring local artists and music fans closer together. The idea is to foster a thoughtful listening environment for people seeking to cut through the buzz and audience chatter of typical concerts in favor of something more intimate. It’s a lofty goal to be sure, but one that seems to have struck a chord with Atlantans. Most shows, which can only be accessed via RSVP, fill up quickly, and Sofar continues to provide a diverse array of artists from our city and beyond.

According to Tom Lovett, the Executive Producer of Give a Home and the Commercial Director of Sofar Sounds, Give A Home will expand on Sofar’s core mission. “Give a Home aligns Amnesty International and Sofar’s vision of a global community united by the things that really matter, in the same way that Sofar unites thousands of people all around the world every day through a shared love of music,” he explains.

In addition to Dr. Kelli, the show will feature Atlanta buzz band CLAVVS, folk-pop artist Kareen Lomax, and touring act Matthew Mayfield. It’s a stacked bill in a small venue, so as you might imagine, the event is already full. However, Sofar Atlanta is giving away two final free passes. To win, you must be signed up for the Sofar newsletter, donate to Amnesty International, screenshot the donation, and email it to Immersive along with your full name. This is a first come, first served opportunity. The winner and their plus one will be on the list at the event and will be contacted with further details.
