This year’s Summer Singles compilation from MOEKE Records has been an absolute slam dunk, a superb collection of wide-ranging cuts that has included several of the Immersive staff’s favorite tracks of 2016. Their newest addition (track #14 if you’ve been following their Bandcamp) is from post-pop partiers Sea Ghost.

“Library” is the band’s first official release since their debut album SG, a generally acclaimed LP that made Sea Ghost one of our Artists to Watch in 2016. Like much of that record, the new single is boisterous, even rowdy. No Atlanta band screams “positive energy” more than Sea Ghost, yet “Library” is also a tender, delicate song thanks to vocalist Carter Sutherland’s ability to balance jubilance with wistfulness.

There’s no word yet as to whether the release of “Library” means a new album is coming soon, but Sea Ghost still plans to release an EP at some point this year. In any case, the new track bodes well for future material. Its tightly knit instrumentation is a welcome signal from a band who often take pleasure in the more wandering aspects of pop and it proves the band has yet to lose the youthful optimism which makes them so refreshing.
