For a minute there I was afraid Predator had gone soft. I mean that opening riff, which pulls double duty as the song’s chorus, sounds an awful lot like something Bad Religion might write. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s certainly more poppy and mainstream than what we’ve come to expect from the Atlanta punks. But then the first verse kicked in and the band’s bleak moodiness washed over me like a black cloud and all was right again.

To my knowledge, “Drag” is the first recorded track to feature newly acquired second guitarist Ryan Bell (G.G. King, Bukkake Boys) who helps bring a fuller, more aggresive sound to Predator’s already formidable attack. This might be one of the band’s most accessible tracks ever, but it’s no less potent. Listen below.

“Drag” is the A-side from Predator’s upcoming 7″ to be released by Orlando-based Total Punk Records.
