Next time you hear someone complain about the lack of a viable rock scene in Atlanta, please show them this post. Here are three bands on the rise, all relatively young with bright futures ahead of them. Microwave might have a slight leg up considering their relationship with indie giant SideOneDummy (well, that AND consistently whip-smart songwriting), but looking at the ridiculously productive and career-changing year Big Jesus is having—touring with the likes of Red Fang, the Sword, Thursday, and Hot Water Music—it’s safe to say the local vets will be doing some headlining of their own in the coming years. As for Blis., while the post-hardcore foursome might not yet have the stature of their tour mates, a lot of that has to do with lineup struggles and long delays on their sophomore release. Expect a lot to change for the group when No One Loves You comes out Oct. 6 via Sargent House.
Yesterday, Microwave announced the fall tour, which will kick off in late October. The nearly month-long trek will carry the bands up the East Coast and through parts of the Mid and Southwest, as well as a smattering of dates in California. Local fans can catch the tour when it hits the Hell stage at the Masquerade on November 3. You can check out the poster and full list of dates below.
