After calling Burger Records home for the past several years, Atlanta’s Curtis Harding has made the move to the bigger, but still largely independent Anti- Records for his forthcoming LP, Face Your Fear. Due out October 27th, the 11-track album is the follow-up to his electrifying 2014 debut Soul Power. It was recorded at Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Studio in New York and features production from Danger Mouse, Harding, and Sam Cohen.

Premiered today by The FADER, lead track “Wednesday Morning Atonement” is the second single to be revealed off the upcoming release, following the high-energy Motown stomp of “On and On.” Harding’s powerhouse vocals and ’70s rock and soul aesthetic remain in full force throughout the song, as he delivers an arresting meditation on alienation and regret.

Regarding the single, Harding revealed to The FADER: “‘Wednesday Morning Atonement’ is the first track I recorded for my new record Face Your Fear. The song is a double-entendre. In a literal sense it’s about an estranged father who for whatever reason was not able to be present in his family’s life. Also, the business of music can sometimes pull you away from the art of making it. So metaphorically it’s a story about a musician, and in theory his songs are his children. It was also recorded on a Wednesday.”

Face Your Fear is out Oct. 27. Pre-orders are available here.
