Do you need a little hair of the dog to drag you out of the dregs of your Saturday morning hangover this weekend? Well, pull up those sweats at least knee high, grease yer gullet up and stumble on down to the Star Bar for one of Atlanta’s most beloved and longest running music festivals, Corndogorama. This year marks the festival’s 19th year in action and it features an impressive lineup of some really fine local acts.

We all know a man’s best friend is his furry companion but when looking for your stomach’s most prized compadre, the corn dog is king. Founder Dave Railey says, “I started Corndogorama as sort of part joke, part gimmick to get people to come see my band. And to provide a stage for lesser known acts as well.” Over the years Railey has provided more than a stage, he has set a precedent for good times in the Atlanta music scene where well fed crowds, grinning from ear to ear, can soak in sweet tunes and liberal libation. When asked why corn dogs, Railey simply replies: “Corndogs? Because they’re perfect. Actually, I discovered that corn dogs have connections to music, oh, and beer.” However, if you yearn for the ultimate experience Railey suggests his personal favorite “is always the jalapeño batter with ketchup and mustard with a ‘lil Mastodon.”

This year’s event is sponsored by Stratosphere Skateboards, Boutique Guitar Exchange, GSU4Rent and Red Brick Brewing Co. Doors open at noon and will remain open late into the night. If you get the chance swing on by so you too can deep fry and electrify. Check out the full list of Corndogorama 19 artists below.
