There’s a simple science to party punk, and Campaign have been perfecting the formula with the requisite amounts of cheap beer and gang vocals since their 2010 debut, It Likes to Party. Their newest single, “Back in the Hole,” picks up where each of their other albums have left off: with a mix of pop-punk hooks, hardcore intensity, and unique melodic vocals.

The track is a mix of inspiration and depression, and the band’s ability to take the listener on a whirlwind of emotions without slowing down the party would be notable if there was time to appreciate it. Instead, the cracking of a beer at the opening of the track might as well be a starting gun. Once it fires, Campaign aren’t stopping for anyone or anything — you better just try and keep up. “Back in the Hole” is sludgier than most of Campaign’s previous material, mixing old-school Bad Religion with the crunchy bass of Torche. It feels like a good move for the band, so hopefully future tracks will retain the same swampy weight unveiled here. Listen below.

Though you’ll probably be able to catch them somewhere in Atlanta this summer, Campaign’s next scheduled show is at Fest 15 (October 28-30), which is the perfect environment to get swept up in their wave of chaos.
