Organizers for the 20th annual AthFest Music & Arts festival have announced the headliners for this year’s event taking place June 24-26.

Hometown heroes Family and Friends will be headlining the outdoor stage on Friday, June 24. The folk-rock group has had recent success on the road with their overall package of deeply layered instrumentation and heart-pumping live shows. Meanwhile, Atlanta underground legends Arrested Development take the stage on Saturday, June 25. For nearly 30 years, the group has supplied conscious, sophisticated lyricism in hip-hop and rap, while finding occasional mainstream success with hits like “Tennessee” and “People Everyday.” Kishi Bashi, the solo project of of Montreal violinist Kaoru Ishibashi, ends things on Sunday with his unique blend of classical and indie pop.

Additionally, Atlanta garage rock mavericks Black Lips will headline the 40 Watt’s Club Crawl on Saturday. As usual, expect an undeniably fun and debaucherous performance from the quartet. Just watch out for flying beer cans, persons, and bodily fluids.

More lineup announcements are coming soon, with the full festival lineup announced May 3. We at Immersive Atlanta are of course hoping that the fest includes many Athens and Atlanta heavy-hitters from a wide variety of genres. All outdoor shows are free, with Club Crawl wristbands selling for $20 until April 30, after which the price will jump to $25. You can purchase wristbands through the AthFest site now.

For 20 years, the festival has worked to shine a light on a wide array of area talent, while also building awareness for Athfest Educates, a nonprofit geared towards providing “much needed funding to support music and arts education for youth.” To learn more AthFest Educates, visit their website.
