Tunabunny – PCP Presents Alice in Wonderland Jr.
Release Date: May
Label: HHBTM Records
Formed in 2008, Athens indie rock outfit Tunabunny have stayed true to the Classic City’s quirky spirit with an experimental approach to songwriting that refuses to conform to anything resembling genre boundaries. And yet, even amongst the band’s most chaotic excursions is a strong pop underpinning that leans on classic hooks and melodies to do the heavy lifting. The foursome’s fifth LP, PCP Presents Alice in Wonderland Jr., is out this May.
Twin Studies – Decay
Release Date: March
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost three years since Twin Studies have put out a proper record, but thems the facts. Barring any unforeseen catastrophes, the band will bring their blend of shoegaze and dreamy pop to their Decay EP, due out in March.
Uniform – No Trending
Release Date: TBA
Given the fact that their demo was released in late 2014, it should come as no surprise that Uniform’s forthcoming No Trending LP is a considerable departure from the raw punk screeds they were carving out in their early days. Weirder, more abstract and exploratory, the album is in currently in search of a label to call home. Until then, we’ll have to make do with the live version, which has been known to play a show or two about town.
WAKE – Manifesto
Release Date: January/February
Label: Underground Field Recordings
WAKE’s music has always carried a serious sociopolitical bent, but over the past couple of years the Atlanta hip-hop collective has taken their activism to new levels by partnering with a wide variety of progressive organizations to bring awareness to critical social issues. Given their willingness to take a stand and put in the hard work of creating change, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that their upcoming record will be called Manifesto. Details have yet to be revealed but with a proposed January/February release date, we can expect to hear from WAKE real soon.
